Poem to Brigid, Imbolc 2009

In honour of the Fourth Annual Brigid in the Blogosphere Poetry Slam, here is my poem to Brigid, Celtic Goddess of Poetry, Smithery and Healing.

Brigid,
Warrior of heart and craft

You inspire and urge me
To cast off the cloak of modesty
To get dirt under my fingernails again

Grubby and breathless
Quickening and flowing
Emerging into form

Brigid
You inspire and urge me
To delight and revel
In the sweetness and the joy
In the truth and the bliss
That is mine
That is my life.
